A genuine bargain.
This is an original Bose L1 Model 1 PA system. (In fact, if you’re interested, it was the first one ever sold in the UK.) Complete with the bass bin and the T1 Tonematch 1 Audio Engine – basically all you could possibly need if you’re an act with any kind of desire for wonderful acoustic presence and virtually unlimited sound and effect control.
It would be pointless for me to try to recreate Bose’s blurb, so please google freely. In effect what you have here is an amazingly flexible PA system with 8 inputs, including a really cool little digital sound desk loaded with EQ, modelling capabilities and effects, and with the ability to save your settings on exit – and reload them next time out. Also a dinky remote control for the 2 inputs on the base unit. Apart from the fact that it sounds amazing, the most innovative feature of the system is that it’s designed to go BEHIND the performer, with no need for foldback, so you hear exactly what the audience hears. It changes the way you play- It really does. Bose go on and on about the lack of ‘decay’ in volume/quality as you get further away, due to the ‘array’ of active speakers in the column – and, well, it’s true. It just is.
It is very compact. Packed, I can vouch for the fact that it sits comfortably on the back seat of a Corsa. And on stage, it takes literally 45 seconds to assemble.
In terms of condition, it has been well used, but works perfectly in every way. There are some scuffs and some small dents to the speaker grills, but nothing major. The cloth cases are still here, a couple with broken zips. I’m not going to take detailed pics because it’s pick up only, and you’ll see for yourself it’s in good nick.
