It givesunprecedented performance, excellent control and monitoringwith maintenance free use in a 2U rack unit. The PA250 is awideband design requiring no tuning, offering very easyinstallation.One of the most novel features of the PA250 is the heatdissipating fresh-air-tunnel with dual intelligent fans. Theseprovide sophisticated cooling to the specially designed heat sinkwith a stream of air that needs no filtering, saving on routine filter replacements. No active components are in the air flow thuskeeping sensitive areas entirely unsoiled.The PA250 uses a very efficient power supply design,combining a toroidal transformer and switch-mode regulatorwhich are ideally suited to transmitter applications where therejection of supply borne voltage spikes and surges is of primeimportance. Woven mat PTFE circuit boards bonded to themassive heatsink/ground plane are used to achieve remarkablethermal stability at the surface mounted component level,leading to excellent reliability.Installation is very straightforward thanks to the PA250s fullyfeatured metering and control. The meter shows PA forward and reflected power, voltage, current and temperature allowingsetup and long term monitoring to be a simple repeatableprocess.Output power is set from the front panel and forward andreflected power alarm thresholds are easily set and previewedon the meter. A remote control/monitoring socket allows statusinformation to be connected to a telemetry system and forexternal muting of the RF output.The PA250 design uses high reliability components specified todeliver full output power continuously over many years with noroutine maintenance requirement.
