Here we have a pair of Community CSX38-S2 monitor wedges along with a Crest Audio PA4601 power amp, in a 4u Gator rack case, and a bundle of 4 core speakon cables.
Backstory:
I used to work as an audio technician for a live events hire company and purchased these off them when we changed around our old stock. I had grand ideas of becoming a live audio engineer and getting my own PA was to be my first step to achieving this aim, then reality hit and i moved on from that idea.
Both speakers and the stands have been well used (they were ex-hire so had been on many events before i bought them) but are still in great working order. I have used them for a few personal gigs since i bought them and they have never failed me. Being ex-hire they have seen their fair share of use and are in far from perfect cosmetic condition.
They have a carpeted exterior which has a few rips in it, especially on the corners, and have picked up a great deal of dust and dirt over the years. I have given them a brush down to remove as much as i can but, it’s carpet it’ll never let all the dirt go!
The input connectors and mounting plate are worn but still function fine, one of the plates is a bit corroded which i have shown in the pictures, but this is all cosmetic and doesn’t affect the sound or operation.
Ultimately they are sturdy and loud monitors that will cut through on stage nicely.
The amp i have been using with these is a Crest Audio PA4601 power amp which i also bough at the same time as the wedges. It has been mounted inside a 4u Gator rack case and an in/out panel connected to it (back when i worked for this company we would often send amps out in cases with these panels in order to make operation easier. Everything plus in the front so you don’t need to faff around with cables and climbing over stuff to reach things…dont ask why it’s purple though, they seemed to have a thing for that colour) This panel allows for both input and output channels as well as power to be dealt with from the front.
The amp actually outputs through bare ends/banana clips which is a real pain and the power connector is a 10A Powercon connector, as such this panel allows you to plug it into a standard 12A UK plug supply and use Speakon cables instead.
Also supplied is a small bundle of 4 core Speakon cables. Im not entirely sure as to the lengths but they look like 2 x 20m, 1 x 10m, and 1 x 2m. So there’s plenty of length to work with.
I have tested everything and it works fine. The amp has quite noisey fans but shouldn’t be an issue in use as it’ll be drowned out by everything else.
This would be a great setup for a touring or function band in need of their own system!
For obvious reasons i would prefer local pickup but i’d be happy to arrange meeting within a reasonable distance of the Bristol area. I’m not going to ship these things though they are WAY too heavy and i wouldn’t want the risk of damages to them on my conscience.
