Most other LED stylus light kits available for theSL-12XX series use a standard 5mm LED fitted facing directly up to the topinside of the tower cover. This is fine for the SL-12XX MK5 series as they arefitted with a 45 reflector mirror but the earlier series do nothave a reflector fitted, so 95% of the LED’s power will be lost at the topinside of the light tower. The viewing angle of 5mm LED’s is also very narrow,usually around 20-30 so mounting a 5mm LED vertically inside the pop-up lighttower means only a tiny portion of the LED’s light power actually reaches thestylus and record surface.
