Offered for sale is a classic Strand Electric PAT 123 theatre lantern. It has been re-wired with the correct cable, has a PAT test certificate together with the original P28 lamp holder but no lamp is present. The correct type being a 500 watt T17/24 for theatre use. For display or domestic applications, the lamp holder could be changed and a lower wattage lamp used. As can be seen from the photos, the fastening that secures the two hinged sections of the lamp house has been replaced. The new fastening whilst being perfectly adequate and well engineered it is rather visible at present! However, the paint work is also rather poor condition, as the castings are Aluminium many 123s seem to be sand -blasted and polished this may well not be important to many bidders as the visibility of the modification would be greatly reduced. There are several chips around the circumference if the lens, (which I have tried to photograph) these are not easy to see and do not affect the performance. Please examine the photos.
