COMPARING TO OTHERS? – Please read first:
You can find parcans at 12 each BUT these are the basic canisterswith internal transformers, and are often Chinese imports; 8 would of these cost justshy of 100. (My more robust units, with arguably better quality internals,would average between 15-20 and are European built). You then need to addprofessional bulbs; GEC are the market leaders, not the cheapest, but lastthe longest, unlike cheaper, more fragile copies. You then need toadd 8 IEC plugs, one to each unit. Next 8 coloured filter gels. The NJDcontroller/sequencer is getting hard to find, especially with the round bulginsockets, increasingly now replaced with alternative 4 channel rectangularoutput fittings. Then factor in the link cables with bulgin plugs at eachend. The plugs alone are not cheap. The splitters werecustom made with 4 IEC sockets and 2 bulgin sockets to allow daisy chain linkage. Everything is as new in original packing, factory stickersattached, instructions available, unmarked etc. and does not have VAT added ata later point :-) ! So, thereare often hidden costs to factor in when comparing “budget” items – after 30 years running discos I learnt “short term saving” may not be so attractive ifthe item does not perform well in the long term or is unreliable at a major function.
