Shure M35X cartridges and stylus for sale

These are in great condition, this auction is for BOTH of the pictured cartridges

Better sound quality than the other headshell mount Shure DJ cartridges including M44-7, M44G, and SC35C

These are priced extremely low at just 99.99 for the pair, even just ONE inferior M44G recently sold for 130+ and a SINGLE inferior M44-7 will sell for 180+!!  Mine are so much cheaper and yet sound so much better…

These are in great condition and the best headshell mount DJ cartridges Shure ever made, they are very similar in sound to the Shure Whitelabel cartridges, in fact when I asked Shure they themselves described the Whitelabel cartridges as being “basically a concorde version of the M35X” which makes sense as the technical specifications of the two look identical.

I really like the sound of these cartridges and would be keeping these myself if I’d managed to get hold of these before I’d invested a significant sum of money on Ortofon Super OM hifi carts and 4 styli as spares, too late to return by then and I’d lose hundreds of pounds trying to sell on the Ortofon Super OM hifi carts so decision was made to stick to the Ortofon’s, luckily the Ortofon Super OM hifi carts do also sound good (just a pity they cost many times that of these M35X so still stings that I lost so much money going that direction!).  I was keeping these to eventually swap back over but I’m getting less time to listen to vinyl these days and would take me many years to wear through the 4 Ortofon styli I already own!  Reluctantly I’m putting these up for sale and you can take advantage of my poor planning…

These are the Shure cartridges designed for highest sound quality and headshell fitment whilst also being able to handle some backcueing and other DJ requirements which would damage a hifi cartridge (even if you were being careful).

I have now added photos of the exact items for sale (NOTE: one M35X has been mounted to a Technics mk5G headshell just for safe storage of the cartridge and has not been lined up for playback, this headshell in the pictures is obviously NOT included).

Shure themselves describe these cartridges as having “exceptionally clear mid and high frequencies”, “extreme clarity” and “The M35X’s versatile Shure Type I medium-diameter cantilever can stand up to continuous, demanding use, yet it is compliant enough to trace signal modulations as small as a millionth of an inch” – the more detail the cartridge can pick up the higher the sound quality.

As a comparison to the other Shure headshell mount cartridges:

The M44-7 is designed to take some serious abuse from mental scratching and heavy handed DJs without breaking, the M44-7 has a massively skewed frequency response curve which works nicely with scratching but can make normal music sound odd

The M44G is the music version of the M44-7 with a flatter more natural frequency response but suffers from sharing the same design limitations deemed essential for the M44-7. As shure describe the M44G it’s “an ideal balance between skip resistance and accuracy of sound reproduction and is perfect for use by a club or party DJ who wants to mix, spin and scratch” – ie it’s a decent all rounder, I’d rather drop those scratch abilities I’ll never use and balance more towards the sound quality end of the scale (which is what the M35X was designed for).

Personally I’ve never scratched and just used my carts for mostly music playback or occasional light cueing, I have no need for a sturdy scratch resistant cartridge that can handle abuse, I just want the highest sound quality available.

Anyone using the M44-7 or M44G for music listening purposes through any kind of decent audio setup will have definitely been missing out vs the M35Xcartridges that were designed to excel at this!  If you don’t do any scratching it’s the M35Xcartridges that you want (standard scratching isn’t going to break the M35Xcartridges should you try it of course but the M44-7 design will hold the groove a bit better).

NOTE: As stated above and in the title etc this auction is for 2x Shure M35X cartridges and 1x used genuine Shure stylus, you will need to purchase another stylus to use the second cartridge.  I’ve been told the Shure Whitelabel stylus is the same as the M35X stylus and could be used if you wanted to although the plastic moulding is a different shape and would need some minor adjustment to fit, I mention this as the Shure Whitelabel stylus is sometimes listed for sale cheaper and may be an option you’d consider.  I have not tried this myself and as always I’d suggest you do your own research on this beforehand.

Any questions just ask.

I cannot accept returns on these due to the delicate nature of the styli and me having no control over how these will be treated once I’ve posted them.
