S2 is a modularbroadcast mixer which offers digital audio quality with analogue reliability in a modularformat. S2 has both digital and analogue input channels, together with simultaneousanalogue and digital outputs. The desk has had 3 years use, and was very reliable for our day-to-day ISDN Radio Days. The equipment is in excellent condition. Its easy torun, and great for teaching radio on as its clear and easy to navigate. We have sevenchannels, built for four mics, two ISDN channels, and one PC channel sotheres plenty of scope to have multiple guests, and other inputs. The S2 uses the latest Crystalsemiconductor technology to allow input and output of digital audio signals upto 24 bit, 96kHz sample rate. The analogue signal paths use lownoise circuitry to provide superb audio performance well capable of satisfyingradio listeners worldwide. The high reliability and buildquality of S2 minimises the chance of failure, avoiding lost air-time. Eachmodule is individually checked twice before being assembled into the finishedchassis and the whole unit is tested before shipping. ALPS long throw 100mm faders give asmooth, repeatable response and the XLR Neutrik connectors used are an industrystandard. The use of VCAs controlled by thefaders ensures tight stereo tracking and eliminates mechanical and electronicnoise. S2 has a separate 2U power supplyproviding regulated, ripple-free power to the mixer. There is also an optionalswitcher to control 2 power supplies providing redundancy. High quality stainless steel isused for the chassis and screws to prevent corrosion in high humidityenvironments. Each channel is metal coatedinternally to provide exceptional EMC screening.
