Offered for sale is a vintage Strand Pat 263 lantern complete with a Strand Electric motorised colour wheel. Originally installed in a cinema and later used by a local theatre. The 263 unusually has a Fresnel lens which results in a soft edged beam rather that the more common hard- edged spot. This would make it much more suitable for decorative and home cinema projects in addition to theatre lighting it currently has a 650-watt T26 lamp fitted. A copy of the original information sheets for both items is included in the saleBoth are in working order but as can be seen from the photos the paintwork on the 263 is far from immaculate so would benefit from a re-spray. It is also worth noting that it has been fitted with a mod kit so now uses the readily available T26/7 lamp rather than the original (and obsolete) T4.The colour wheel runs at 4 r.p.m the disc having 5 apertures for theatre colour medium, at this speed, the colours dissolve nicely into each other. With an imaginative choice of colour, the effect is beautiful. A further feature allowed the wheel to be stopped at a particular colour using an optional switch unit). This facility has not been tested so may not operate correctly even if you have the switch box (see my other listing)! The 263 and Colour Wheel whilst both have been PAT tested the 263 has no plug and the Colour Wheel requires a simple 3 core cable. The floor stand and spigot are not included in the sale. Two of these are available please see my other listings. Both are in very similar condition but are not completely identical as they probably have different manufacturing dates. One is shown in Photo 1 the other in photo 2 if further pictures are required please ask.We would prefer collection from near Stockport Cheshire as they are bulky difficult to pack and easily damaged. Collection by your own carrier may be possible but please discuss this with us before placing a bid.
