Ever needed to plug two devices into a stereo or set of speakers and be able to hear both at the same time? Or alleviate the frustration of having to unplug and replug multiple devices into a stereo that only has one auxiliary input? It’s not usually something that can be done without buying a separate mixer, which is usually expensive and requires power.
This device aims to solve these problems at a low cost. Here we have for sale a very simple 4 channel (2 stereo channels) passive mixer. It will mix together two stereo audio signals from any device that has a line level or headphones output, and allow them to be heard simultaneously via an amplifier or head unit attached to the output. There will be a significant drop in level due to the resistors used in the circuit so I don’t recommend it as a solution for using with just un-amplified headphones connected to the output, but is perfect for plugging into an amplifier to listen to via speakers, be it a home stereo, car stereo, headphone amp etc.
This is brand new, and a lot smaller than it looks in the images (6cm by 4cm). It requires no batteries to operate. It has two stereo mini jack (3.5mm) inputs, and one mini jack output.
Typical uses of this are for connecting two sources to one audio system, such as a car stereo with only one AUX input or pc speakers, home stereo etc. Or connecting two iPods/iPhones and using DJ apps to mix between the two for a party, the only thing lacking there is a cross fader. It is possible to even just connect headphones to the output jack, but since this mixer circuit is passive and uses no batteries, the volume level will be lower than normal without using an additional headphone amplifier.
Simply plug in two sources to the jacks on the side of the mixer, such as an mp3 player and a handsfree kit or a gps etc. And connect the output on the top edge of the mixer to an audio system, and you will be able to hear both sources simultaneously. Volume mix can be adjusted via the input devices themselves for a good mix. These have been used in cars, to listen to an mp3 player whilst having the gps also connected so that navigation instructions can be heard over the music, or in the house to mix together audio from a laptop with audio from the tv on the one stereo system, so email alerts can be beards whilst listening to music or watching tv. There are many possibilities, but it is convenient to use this without the need for powering it or changing batteries. Also because it is not powered, it introduces no added noise into an audio signal, so you can maintain the quality of your audio.
This auction is for one mixer, built inside a retro style small pill box approximately 4cm wide, 6cm high and 1.5cm deep. There are no cables included. Returns are accepted for faulty items but all items are checked and working prior to being shipped. If you do not heed the warning about the volume drop, planning to use this only with headphones connected, and are subsequently disappointed at the performance, I will still accept returns, but you must pay for return postage, and will only receive a refund of the item auction price.
