Neve 5045 Primary Source Enhancer Vocal Processor Rack Unit
The Neve 5045 is THE legendary vocal processor, 2ch unit. You feed it a vocal and it cleans up a lot of the spill. Almost, but indescribably and remarkably better than some kind of intelligent gate, or expander.

Used on all sorts of huge electronic acts, rock bands and also has a place in corporate production on lecterns and lavalier mics. This one is in used condition and I have toured it a fair few times with some 70s and 80s bands. It has some rack rash on the top and the dials are non original. It works perfectly and as you can see from the back it has been serviced straight after its last show in December 2019.

“The 5045 shares some traits with conventional noise gates, but operates on a different principle. One common aspect is that both reduce the gain during the absence of signal or more specifically, both begin to attenuate when the level of a signal falls below a certain user-defined threshold. The 5045 senses when someone is speaking or singing into the mic and allows the signal to pass through, and senses when the person has stopped talking or singing and reduces the gain appropriately, which helps reduce the systems tendency to feed back. Most importantly, the 5045 does not require filtering and digital processing to achieve significant benefits.”
The 5045 yielded a 14 to 15 dB increase in level, with no feedback, glitches or choppiness.
