This powered mixer by the Canadian company TOA is a versatile unit that makes an ideal PA for a band playing small to medium venues, and will also double up as a bass guitar amp if required. Could also be used as a straight PA for announcements at an event. It is powerful, sturdy and very reliable. Some technical detail:
The MX-601 features 6 input channels; 1 program, 1 foldback, and 1 effects output. The internalpower amplifier is rated at 120 watts into 8 ohms, 200 watts into 4 ohms, and 300 watts into 2ohms load.Each input channel features an electronically balanced XLR connector, and a high impedanceunbalanced 1/4″ phone jack. An input trim control is provided to accommodate a wide range ofinput source levels. A peak indicator LED detects excessive input signal (either pre or post EQ),aiding in proper settings of the trim control to avoid input clipping.Each channel also features 4-band equalization, a “pre” foldback send, a “post” reverb/effectssend, and program level control.The master control section features a one-octave (10-band) graphic equalizer, high and lowequalizer control of an internal reverberation unit, auxiliary input controls, LED bargraph outputmeters, and a full patch bay with our exclusive Bus-Link capability.
This has until recently been used as a band PA, but as the band has built a reputation and moved onto more frequent and bigger gigs we have upgraded our system. This was, however, ideal when we started out and didn’t know what might happen. We think this would be perfect for a band starting out, who don’t want to put too much money into stuff until they know it is going to pay off. It has been gigged pretty extensively, and as you can see from the pictures it has taken a few inevitable bashes. On the front 3 of the knobs have taken some damage, but they still work, the damage is cosmetic. To protect it we added some black tape to the edges, but again in the environment it is used it was going to get knocked about, but again it still works perfectly. It just doesn’t look great, which is reflected in the starting price.
Love it to go to a deserving home, especially a new band starting up where I am sure it can work its magic again.
